I can’t remember who tipped me off to this place but I owe them a big thank you. As do the many satisfied friends + family I have recommended it to since.
On paper not really a hidden gem – I mean it is positioned smack bang in the middle of one of Palma’s main streets (El Born). But I think it makes the cut because from the outside it doesn’t look like much – in fact I hardly noticed it on numerous occasions walking passed – seemingly just a tourist stop off.
But I’m inclined to say now it’s one of my favourite restaurants I have ever been to.
Here’s my tips on how to make the most of the Ombu experience. Phone ahead and book the table in front of the open kitchen (I think number 22) – aim for around 9pm so the chefs are in full flow as your background entertainment. Start with one of the great selection of cocktails. Follow that up with a good range of the incredible tapas dishes on the menu – in my experience you can’t go wrong. But black cod tips in miso with pak choi must be tried.
I hope you enjoy it!
