I was taken to Es Mal Pas by a local friend who was working in Alcudia during my first year living in Mallorca. The village of Es Mal Pas is located in a bay between Alcudia and Pollenca and as a village it really isn’t anything too special. However, just on the edge of the village, further up from the port, you will find a small flat cliff called Caleta des Frares.
To get there you must go down the road Cami Vell de la Victoria until you see some steps going down towards the sea. When you get to the bottom you will see a beautiful rock bridge that leads you to a flat platform. You can settle down here and spend all afternoon jumping in and out of the water and it is also a great area for kayaking. There is a small cave entrance under this flat rock which you can enter. (I would recommend bringing a pair of goggles with you). I was a bit terrified to go in but once inside the cave it was a very interesting experience that I would recommend.
When you are finished soaking up the sun, swimming and exploring the caves for the day, head back up to the road of Cami Vell de la Victoria and continue down towards the port. Here you will find on the corner a chill-out bar called 5 Oceanos (you can find it on Google maps). It is a great place to go and relax after swimming. They have a great selection of cocktails, smoothies and food and the ambience is great with relaxed, colourful sofas, hammocks and bean bags all around. It is a great place to be as the sun sets. I have taken many friends and family to this place ever since my first visit 3 years ago and everyone has loved it.
If you´re looking for an adventure filled day out with friends or family and want to explore some not less well known areas of the island then you really should check out this hidden gem.
