Hello and welcome to Spring in Deia.
If you have not been to the island yet this year, the island has been beautifully quiet. Winter is a sleepy time in Mallorca outside of Palma. But that is what I love. The restaurants and shops recharge their batteries or have a facelift and we trade in slap-up meals for walking paths and mountains – at times you feel you have the whole island to yourself.
We did have an enormous amount of rain at the start of the year and those with homes here have certainly had their drainage systems tested! On the other-side of this has come the most luscious of springs. The islands colours are vivid and the smell of blossom leads you to the conclusion that summer is well on its way. This time of year, with its increasingly warm evenings, has to be my favourite.
We had our quarterly team get together last week. It is always a day of sharing our ideas and hopes for the future and of course a team building activity and this time we enjoyed a truly special ceramics workshop overlooking the mountains with local artist Maria De Haan, followed by a delicious meal at Dukes in Santa Catalina. A perfect spring day.
Those of you who watch the sales market will have seen the high level of activity in the last few years. This has inevitably pushed prices up but there are still some great opportunities on and off the market, particularly if you are willing to do some work or build from scratch. With investment in new hotels and restaurants across the island – we can expect to see another increase in prices as stock continues to reduce and international buyers increase the demand.
Whatever it is you are looking for, please do get in touch with the team. Even if you have been unsuccessful in the past, we have a wide network and the resources to hunt for the right home home on your behalf.
Peace and love,
