The beautiful area of Son Canals is the first stop on the slope leading from Deia’s main street, past the school down towards Cala Deia. Marked by lots of sun, and traditionally styled, this area is wonderfully tranquil yet unequivocally part of Deia’s vibrant village vibe.
Built home by home around 2000, this is a small urban area of homes that all live up to modern-day demands. They all have lovely terraces, and share rustic features that you find in most Deia homes: wooden beams, log burning fireplaces, stone cladded walls and pastel coloured shutters. Plus, each home has a designated parking space. Sea views are highly sought after on this coastline, and a number of Son Canals properties can boast this. And with the whole area facing south-west, what they all have is plenty of sun.
Summer days here are a lazy mix of children’s voices from the school across the street, music streaming out from a neighbour’s open window and the muffled chatting from walkers passing by to visit Cala Deia. Traffic noise is at a minimum as you are well below the main road and the road down to Son Canals ends blindly.
Son Canals presents you with one of the shortest walks to Cala Deia within village boundaries – in sharp competition with the lower part of The Clot. So, if you like to hike down to Cala Deia for a morning swim, yet wish to be in walking distance to shops and restaurants, then there is no better place to be than in Son Canals.
If looking for a “lock up and leave” home in Deia, Son Canals is perfect. Here it is quick and easy to come and go if you like visiting Deia over bank holidays, weekends, during local festivals or similar. Also, the housing in the area has enough variation to accommodate differing needs, and all is built to a high standard. All the homes are different; some are one floor apartments, some are two story duplexes, some have pools. Most have a lovely view of the Deia church which lights up in the evening.
In only a few years, Son Canals has become a Deia borough that feels like it was here forever.
At Charles Marlow & Bros we currently have several houses for sale in Son Canals, but most are privately listed.
